How a remote closing works

When you think of a home closing, what immediately comes to mind?

You’re likely conjuring up images of having to take a day off work to meet in a stuffy office in the middle of the day to sign stacks of papers. While that was true back in the day, home closings have come a long way. Now, there is a far more flexible and convenient option. You can close on your home remotely.

How it works

As your title company, we allow you to sign your closing documents outside of our office, in a location of your choosing. Notaries are available at almost any time, day or night, and can close in many locations. It’s up to you whether you’d like to do it privately at your residence or publicly at a coffee house, office or restaurant.

Once all parties are confident about the anticipated closing date, we will advise your real estate agent and/or title company of the closing time and location that works best for you. We will then coordinate with the notary.

Most notaries are familiar with the closing documents, but if anything arises, your closing team (escrow office, realtor, lender, and so on) is on standby via phone, Zoom, or Google Meet to answer any questions.

Why remote closings are beneficial

These days, you can do almost everything remotely. You can buy a car remotely and have it delivered to your doorstep, so why shouldn’t you be able to buy a home remotely, too?

Remote closings are a faster and more convenient new way to tackle the process. You no longer have to hire a caretaker to watch your children and/or parents. And you no longer have to take a day off from your demanding and busy work schedule. No longer do you have to disrupt your schedule to close on your home.

Even if you’re a road warrior and you expect to be in another state on closing day, we can coordinate a date and time for you to sign with a notary—whether in the hotel lobby or an office. Now, home closings can come to you.

Many buyers enjoy the convenience of completing the entire home purchase remotely, from touring the property virtually to signing documents electronically. When closing on a home remotely, your title company will be right there with you, at a location you choose.
